Word Made Flesh

By Isobel Francisco

Easter is the climactic chapter of a story about compassion and sacrifice: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us." And as flesh, he agreed to live, suffer, and die -- a promise fulfilled with his own sweat and blood. His life teaches the faithful that if a god is willing to shed his divinity in order to save mankind, does that not mean that every person is worth love, dignity, and life worth living? Is this not something worth remembering among his faithful through today's unchecked greed, fascism, and genocide?
